Chair of IESNA Quality of the Visual Environment Committee, 1993-2001. Responsible for developing new “Quality” chapter for IESNA 9th Edition Lighting Handbook, including new Lighting Design Guide to expand lighting recommendations beyond task illuminance. Continuing contributing member, and chief author of Design Guide #18, 2001 to present.
Invited participant in Lighting Criteria Forum, Phoenix AZ, February 2002. Forum was organized to chart unifying approach for developing outdoor lighting criteria and recommendations for IESNA committees. Participants were practitioners of lighting, vision scientists, and experts in photometry and outdoor lighting calculations.
